We recently surveyed small business manufacturers and wholesalers to get their take on 2014 and expectations for the upcoming year. The results echo what we’ve been consistently hearing from many of our customers: 2015 is going to be an even better year. Below are three takeaways from our survey – let us know if you share these sentiments.
- 2014 growth did not meet expectation for a majority of respondents. This is hardly surprising given what we know about “hardworking, never satisfied” entrepreneurs. What’s more interesting – and perhaps telling, however, is that more than one in three said that 2014 growth DID meet expectations. We’ll take that as promising news heading into 2015.
- All respondents believe that their businesses will grow more in 2015 than in 2014. So even those whose expectations weren’t met this year are optimistic about 2015. What’s behind this optimism? See below.
- Technology is key to meeting 2015 growth goals. This is certainly not unexpected in an age where business software and the cloud are used by even the smallest businesses. Adding new customers was everyone’s number one goal, of course, but next time we’ll ask the question differently – e.g., “If you knew that affordable technology would be key to adding new customers in the coming year, would you consider investing more in technology?” Sometimes it’s not what you ask but how.
How do you feel about 2015? Are you bullish too? Let’s hope so.
