This weekend, we’re going to be at Scaling New Heights. No, we’re not going mountain climbing; we’re attending the “Scaling New Heights” accounting conference in San Antonio, Texas, from Friday through Wednesday. If you’re in the accounting business, this is the place to be.
Scaling New Heights outdoes itself every year, and this year is shaping up to be the best yet. For starters, the guest speaker at the conference is Frank Abagnale. If that name doesn’t sound familiar to you, he’s been known for more than four decades as one of the world’s most famous – or infamous – confidence men. He wrote the book on it – Catch Me If You Can, which later became a movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio and even a Broadway musical. He is one of the world’s most respected authorities on forgery, embezzlement and secure documents, and has worked with, advised and consulted with hundreds of financial institutions, corporations and government agencies around the world for the past 35 years. He’s also posed as an airline pilot, an attorney, a college professor and a pediatrician, in addition to cashing $2.5 million in fraudulent checks in every state and 26 foreign countries. Just think, you could come out of the conference with a whole new career.
On the other hand, if you decide to stick with accounting as a profession, the conference is excellent for that, too, with more than 50 speakers and more than 100 hours of training on various accounting topics, laser-focused on how to use QuickBooks more effectively. Some of accounting’s “celebrities” like the conference host Joe Woodard and QuickBooks and small business guru Stacy Kildal will also be in attendance and have a ton to offer. People who’ve attended in previous years say it transformed their practices and that it was an investment that paid for itself many times over.
Of course, Exact will be there, too. First, we’ll have a booth (#45) in the exhibit hall where we will be demoing our product. Second, our general manager Steve Leavitt will present a session on Tuesday morning bright and early at 7am on how attendees can gain new revenue by tailoring their expertise and services to the rapidly growing base of small manufacturers and wholesale distributors. Attendees will also learn how to extend the value of QuickBooks with business software designed for manufacturers and wholesale distributors with fewer than 50 employees. And hey, it includes breakfast. What’s not to like?
That’s all on top of the best San Antonio has to offer, including a banquet actually held in the Alamo itself with some good ol’ Texas eatin’.
See you there.
